With the majority of cruise ships now berthing in Akaroa instead of Lyttelton for the 2011/2012 summer season we have put together a selection of our most popular Christchurch and Canterbury Tours specifically designed for cruise ship passengers arriving into Akaroa.


CLT03BCS – Jet Boating on the Lower Waimak

You will be collected from Akaroa and travel through picturesque Banks Penninsula to Christchurch then head 15 minutes North to our braided Waimakariri River for a thrilling jet boat ride in the shallow river flats.

CLT19CS – Christchurch City Sightseeing

You will be collected from Akaroa and travel through picturesque Banks Penninsula to Christchurch. Upon arrival into Christchurch the tour travels through the University of Canterbury, down to Riccarton House and Bush and then through Monavale Gardens where you will have a chance to have a short stroll with 5.5 hectares of richly landscaped gardens, ponds and fountains.

The tour then continues into the central city, through Hagley park, the boat sheds, Botanical Gardens Arts Centre in the historic Buildings that were once Canterbury University, past the Museum, Art Galley and Victoria Clock Tower before moving on to the Catholic Basillica, then onto the seaside suburb of Sumner, then to Lyttleton Harbour, a volcanic crater which is now the port of Christchurch.

The tour then ends with a visit to the Sign of the Takahe, situated on the volcanic ridges of the cashmere hills which provides spectacular views of the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps.

CLT19CSAC – Christchurch City Sightseeing with Antarctic Centre

You will be collected from Akaroa and travel through picturesque Banks Penninsula to Christchurch. Upon arrival into Christchurch the tour travels through Monavale Gardens where you will have a chance to have a short stroll with 5.5 hectares of richly landscaped gardens, ponds and fountains.

You will then be delivered to the International Antarctic Centre, one of Christchurch's leading attractions. The Centre recreates the atmosphere of Antarctica with a Snow and Ice Experience, the Blue Penguin Encounter and an exhilarating Hagglund ride. 

Then up the hill to the Sign of the Takahe, situated on the volcanic ridges of the cashmere hills which provides spectacular views of the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps, and make your return journey to Akaroa.

CLT32CS – Christchurch Garden Tour

Take this tour and see why Christchurch is trully the Garden City. You will be collected from Akaroa and travel through picturesque Banks Penninsula to Christchurch. The tour will visit a mixture of 2 public and 2 private gardens. The public gardens may include Mona Vale, the Sanitarium Gardens, or the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The private gardens are generally award winning and offer a mix of perennial, rose, water features and woodlands.

CLT15CS – Sheep Farm tour

You will be collected from Akaroa and travel through picturesque Banks Penninsula to Christchurch then head north to visit a working sheep farm set in a tranquil location. Enjoy the experience of watching sheep dogs work, rounding up the flock and penning them for you to touch, examine and photograph. A shearing demonstration has been arranged and if you wish you can have a go. Morning tea will be provided. On your return to Christchurch a visit to the factory shop of one of our leading manufactures of woollen garments can be arranged on request.
