What to Expect

Pick up from the Central City-Tram Stop#2 (Cathedral Square) from 12pm.

Travel from Christchurch through rolling farmland and sun-drenched hills to reach the heart of Waipara Valley — a region famed for its cool but sunny climate and rich soils ideal for viticulture. This sheltered, hilly valley is home to around 1200 hectares of vineyard, growing mostly aromatic varieties and Pinot Noir. Riesling is the most important grape variety in the region, producing honeyed, spicy white wines with excellent minerality.

Along with Pinot Noir and Riesling, excellent examples of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer are produced in Waipara. The long growing season is also conducive to the production of sweet wines, both as late-harvest dessert and richer, botrytized styles.

Explore a curated selection of North Canterbury’s finest wineries, such as Waipara Springs, Torlesse, Pegasus Bay, or Georges Road. Each offers a unique atmosphere and exceptional hospitality.
