About This Tour
Come with us to the quaint French village of Akaroa. With volcanic panoramas and dolphin-filled harbours, this full-day tour blends epic scenery, rich local history, wildlife encounters, and gourmet countryside indulgence.
What to Expect
Pick up from your central city accommodation between 8:15- 8:45am.
Journey from Christchurch through Governor’s Bay, Gebbie’s Pass, and the twin lakes of Ellesmere and Forsyth. Ascend ""the hilltop"" for sweeping views over Akaroa Harbour, nestled inside an ancient volcanic crater.
Discover a charming township filled with French-colonial architecture, boutique craft shops, darling cafes, and idyllic photo spots in this former whaling depot.
Gear up with a wetsuit, mask, snorkel, and flippers for a once-in-a-lifetime swim alongside one of the world’s rarest dolphin species—found only in South Island waters. While aboard, keep an eye out for Little Blue Penguins, seals, and seabirds.
On your way back to Christchurch, stop at a local cheese factory to taste handcrafted New Zealand cheeses in a picturesque countryside setting.
This tour concludes with drop off to your accommodation at approximately 5:45
We operate this tour in partnership with Black Cat Akaroa
Please note the Dolphin Swimming does not operate over the winter months May-August
